Smart Monitoring: Getting the Most from Your BESS

State of charge (SoC) is the obvious metric, but state of health (SoH) matters more for long-term planning — it tells you how much of the original capacity your battery can still deliver, and trending it over months catches degradation early.

Cycle count is worth tracking against your battery’s rated cycle life so you have a realistic sense of remaining lifespan rather than being surprised when capacity drops.

Charge and discharge rates matter too: consistently charging or discharging near the battery’s maximum rated current generates more heat and accelerates wear. If your monitoring shows this happening daily, it’s worth reviewing your load profile or charge settings.

Temperature is an underrated one. Lithium batteries age faster at sustained high temperatures, so if your BESS is installed somewhere poorly ventilated, monitoring the pack temperature can flag a problem well before it affects performance.

Most Equipeng BESS units support app-based monitoring out of the box — if yours doesn’t seem to be reporting data, that’s a support ticket worth raising rather than something to ignore.
