5 Signs Your Inverter Needs Servicing

Equipeng Editorial Team22 April 20264 min read

1. Unusual noise. A steady hum is normal; a new buzzing, clicking or rattling sound usually points to a loosening component or a cooling fan under strain.

2. Backup time is shrinking. If devices that used to run for hours on battery now cut out much sooner, it’s often the battery aging rather than the inverter — but it’s worth having both checked together.

3. Frequent beeping or error codes. Modern inverters surface fault codes for a reason. Don’t silence the alarm and move on — note the code and get it checked.

4. It runs hot to the touch or the enclosure feels warm even at idle. Inverters generate some heat, but persistent excess warmth usually means a cooling or ventilation issue.

5. Slow or failed switchover during an outage. A half-second delay is normal; a multi-second delay or a failure to switch over at all is a sign the transfer relay needs attention.

If you’re seeing two or more of these, it’s time for a service visit rather than a wait-and-see approach — catching it early is almost always cheaper than an emergency replacement.
